In-the-Ear (ITE) Aids
An in-the-ear aid has all components and parts in a single shell that fits into the outer part of the ear. These are common hearing aids for tinnitus and other mild to severe hearing impairments.
There are two types: in-the-canal and completely-in-the-canal. The in-the-canal version can still be seen by others, while the completely-in-the-canal hearing aid is not.
These are for people with mild to moderate hearing loss. In the ear hearing aids fit entirely into the canal and are one of the best types of hearing aids.
Types of Hearing Aids: Digital vs. Analog
Analog hearing aids are the simpler ones. These devices convert sound waves to make them louder through the device setup. Analog devices have a few controls and are generally less expensive than their digital counterparts.
Digital hearing aids work a bit differently and are a little more complex. Digital hearing aids also convert sound waves, but instead of making them louder, they convert them into a numerical code. The code is then read and amplified by the device.
Digital hearing aids are more technically advanced. These types of hearing aids are easier to adjust and often adjust automatically. Most people can hear more clearly with digital aids, but they do cost a bit more than analog aids.
