Does Tinnitus Go Away?

Does Tinnitus Go Away?

There are millions of Americans who live with tinnitus, making it one of the most common medical conditions in the U.S. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. It is estimated that 15% of the population (around 50 million people) has some type of it.

What Is It?

Contrary to popular belief, tinnitus is a symptom rather than a condition and is most commonly caused by hearing loss. It is characterized by the perception of sound in the absence of an external stimulus.

It can be a truly debilitating symptom and cause issues with hearing, sleep, emotions, concentration and processing thoughts. It can have a significant negative impact on quality of life depending on each unique situation. This is why individuals with it are constantly wondering and asking, “does tinnitus go away?”

Does It Go Away?

Despite the large number of cases in the country, there is still no permanent cure for it. However, there are treatment options that can help manage the perceived effect and intensity of it. Treatment options allow individuals to take control of their situation so that they can live a more normal and comfortable life with it.

There are researchers and organizations that strive to bring awareness to the causes, effects, and remedies for it. Although individual results vary, many people have found comfort and relief through various methods.

We’ve shared several links to resources below.
